Adding a custom Link button to tinymce (Sitepub)

We have a requirement to add a button which is similar to Out of box "link" type with some more additional features.

Added the button successfully and was able to get it worked on DCT tinymce withOUT any issues.

Added the same button to SitePub tiny mce by configuring the customer-teamsite-resource-config.xml. Restarted the service, tinymce area never come up, there is loading symbol with no errors on text area.

When I remove the button from the configuration tinymce area is back to normal perhaps with no custom button.

XML file configuration is as follows

There doesn't appear to be anything explicitly wrong with your config. My initial thought is that your plugin code might somehow be interfering with a plugin that you're loading in SitePub but not in FormsPub. Hard to say without seeing your custom plugin JS. Either way, you almost certainly have javascript errors, so use Firebug/IEDevConsole to figure out what those are.

The plugin I have added is mere a OOTB "link" plugin with an extra field on html popup.

We donot want to use the advanced link plugin which has the class option in it, but it has more options than what we want.

I cann't have my own config file for my own link type. So I have to keep the default link as other projects using that. I have commented out the following lines of code as I donot want to override the existing link.

I can't see anything outright incorrect with your code, but my suggestion to debug with the correct tools stands. There's almost certainly a JS error occurring and without knowing what that is, you're looking for a needle in a field of haystacks.

Also, I wouldn't be surprised if your plugin has a similar JS error in a DCT, and it's just being more graceful about recovering from it because it's not wrapped in ExtJS. I wouldn't assume that it's a SitePub-specific problem.

Is there any debug procedure you can prescribe for us. I dont see any error on the browser either in IE or in FF. Is there any log or any kind of procedure I can follow.

I have put the alert message in my script at the first line which it process. However that alert message was not displayed and the SP Textarea shows "loading animated gif"continuously.

Yeah, like I said. Get the IE Developer Toolbar (IE7), use the IE Developer Console by pressing F12 (IE8/IE9), or get Firebug (ff4+). Make sure the debug tool of your choice is open, enter debugging mode (IE) or enable the Console and Script tabs (Firebug), and refresh the page.

Your missing alert is a pretty-sure-but-not-entirely-conclusive pointer to a JS exception.

Which line? What's the error message?

You should look around your office for someone that knows how to troubleshoot Javascript, unless you have 2+ weeks to waste doing this over devnet. Someone familiar with Javascript can probably still give you useful direction without knowing anything about iwov.

The debugger stops at "if (parentWindow.top._dcWin.api.iw_dispatch_handleRTE Link) {" and it says "Object not found".

I am not sure what is this code is doing exactly. I removed it and whole functionality is working as expected.

Is it possible you based your plugin on iwlink instead of advlink? AFAIK, the former only works in FormsPub and not in SitePub. The line that's erroring seems to be looking for FormsPub-specific objects.
