View > "All and Deleted Files"

Hello All,

As per my understanding.... when we delete the file from WA and submit the file to STAGING area..it will get remove permanantly from Teamsite

but when we do > "View" > "All and Deleted" files > it will show the those deleted files and allow to restore the files we well.

can't we remove the file permantly from Teamsite... and not make it visible under "deleted file as well" .....why it is till shows even if we deleted and submitted? any idea?

Your understanding is flawed. A file is only completely removed from TeamSite when all of its versions are no longer referenced by any workarea, staging area, or edition on that branch.

Then how we can clean the version from the hidden editions...as we havent manuaaly created the edition.

I created fresh branch > created new fresh file > submitted to staging > deleted from WA > submitted to staging to get removed

Still file is there in hidden edition ....so is that the case that we can not remove the file permantaly as its always there in hidden edition?

The whole point of a CMS is that you don't ever really delete anything. Otherwise you might as well use a plain old file system. If you didn't want the file to be versioned in the first place, you could've marked it as 'private' to prevent it from ever getting to staging+editions.

Your options now are basically either to live with it, or delete all previous editions where this file appears. You can't remove just the one file; you need to delete the entire history of the branch.

I once investigated whether one could surgically cut out the entire existence of a single file from the content store, for a client that had high security requirements. Frankly the use case doesn't make sense to me, because TS is a web publishing platform, and anything on the web gets indexed by a bajillion other services anyway so nothing ever really "comes off the internet". In any case, the answer is there isn't even a hack to do this without decompiling the iwserver and figuring out the format of the content store. You'd need iwov support to build you a custom tool of some kind, if this is even within the realm of possibility. And on that one, you have more chances of winning the lottery 15 times in a row.
