Event Trigget on Ownership

Hi All,

Can we send or trigger an event when a user takes ownership of group or user task in a workflow

Requirement is that ones a user takes ownership of the task email should be triggered intimating that task has been taken by the xyz user

For the Grouptask you can use "iwat" Trigger Script, the event is "TaskGroupTaken".
By the same token you can trigger User Task processing using either "TaskActivate"
or "TaskGoActive" events.

Note that "iwat" settings are global. You yourself will have to filter out false positives
like "TaskGroupTaken" from workflows that you do not need.

For the User Task it'll be perhaps easier to send a notification by setting a preceding
Mail/External/URL Task that does what you want and immediately transitions to the User
Task in question.

Hi Thanks for the reply , really gave a direction to go to , will tell the user about the same and if they are ok so am i .

Just one more question how can we create a dialog box or event if a user is trying to add a file in a workflow which already exits .

Example : if file "A" is already in the wf and i try to add one more file with same name , how can i tell the user it is not allowed ?

If you are checking the files attached to a workflow in an external task, you can send the user back to a CGI task that displays the message to the user and asks the user to re-select the file.

If you want the user to get an instant message while selecting the file, store the names of existing files attched to the workflow as hidden html variables in your file selection task (it has to be a user interactive task). Validate the file being selected using Javascript and then let the user re-select the file.

That depends on how exactly your user can "... add one more File..."
Bmazum already addressed couple possible scenarios, there might be other.
We'll need more information for any non-trivial suggestion.

Please keep in mind that you will not be able to do it through "iwat" alone,
that's pure Service side processing. (In theory you can manipulate your instantiated
WF Job from "iwat" Script. I would recommend against it though, it requires special
WF Design and in this case seems to be an overkill).
