fs_threadcount configuration in iw.cfg

Hi

can the value of the parameter "fs_threadcount" in iw.cfg be set to a value/number just greater than the number of CPU available or strictly it has to be the value that is twice the number of CPU? As per the techanical document it has to be twice the number of CPU but i just wanted to try some value greater than 4. So any idea how the impact would be on teamsite? we are having Teamsite6.5 SP3.

we have the TeamSite Production running on VMware platform and as a result the performance is slow. To improve the performance, we have changed the value of fs_threadcount from 4 to 8. We were told by the sever maintenance team that we have 4 virtual CPU allocated for TeamSite in VMware and hence we decided to the change the value.

But even after changing the value to 8, we found that the performance has not improved but in fact degraded further.

It could be just the virtual machine is slow. If you access the regular virtual machine, is it slow? You can use a number of free networking tools to analyze the traffic between a client machine and the teamsite vm to see if there are any degrade performance.

The performance of the TeamSite varies. At times accessing the drives, folder,files etc are fast and at times it is slow.

What does the IIS logs say?

Do you experience this on the file system outside of TeamSite? Perhaps you should look to tune the vm first.
