newb question xml tags

This is an uber newb question but i've never done this in a dct anyhow the requirement is if a simple text field in a dct is empty do not display some html in the tpl.

For example

dct has [HTML][/HTML]

tpl/html has [HTML]<iw_value name="dcr.title"/>[/HTML]

if dct title text field above is blank don't display the entire tpl/html line above.

I'm guessing there is some iw if thing that can see the value of dcr.title if null then something?

I dont see your complete message, but as per my guess you wanted to use iw_if tag in your tpl to show/skip some part of the html and here is a sample one:

[PHP]

do this if the condition is true

do this if the condition is false

[/PHP]

I dont know what the confusion is here. However, if you want a simple if then else situation, just go for this:

[html]

[/html]

Your logic is backwards - I believe you wanted ne not eq in the if expression.
