Can I do what you asked ? Yes, with my assumptions (two different servers, move over one branch, you can identify the appropriate files (workflow, deployments, etc) to move.

For someone who knows what they are doing, this will take a week or so. For you ?

Now, are you expecting to have 2 installs of TS (6.5 and 6.7.2) on the same server ? Never going to happen.

"how" = many ways. I prefer OpenDeploy. You can write an opendeploy script to move the branch content from 6.5 server to 6.7.2. Of-course, you need to think about what you want to move (i.e. editions, staging area, workarea)
"why" = For this, you should talk to the person who gave you the requirement.

OpenDeploy is only useful if you want a surface copy - otherwise, as I said in the other thread on this topic (PLEASE DO NOT CROSS-POST) - consider learning about iwmigrate

we are trying to migrate a branch with edition,staging area,workarea,metadata,versions and External Attribute from Teamsite 6.5 (O/S : AIX) to 6.7.2 (O/S : Solaris). We donot want surface copy of the branch.

I was able to find the procedure, if we are doing a "fresh install" of TeamSite 6.7.x.(KB Article : 57148)

But in our case, TeamSite 6.7.2 already has 5 working branches. Please advise.....

Well you actually provide some information that may be of use

Shut down 6.5 TS (I did not think AIX was supported at that time, but...) copy the complete backing store (iw-store) to the new server.

Read the manual about adding a new backingstore and mount this data. You will be out of compliance with your license as you are (probably) not licensed for multiple stores, but it should work. If the 6.7 can read 6.5 store, then you can run iwmigrate to get the branches you want over. I have done that from Linux to Solaris (and back) but Windows to *nix will not work.

What Andy said is correct.
The only thing I'd add is that the branches you want to migrate must be unique - i.e. not already existing in the target store.

If they already exist in the target store - you can rename them there, then do the migration, and then figure out how to merge things (no utility provided for that - sorry)
