Page Template Update Issue

Hi All,

I have some question regarding Teamsite 7.3 template update issue. I build a template for my site, and then create all the pages based on the template. When i make some changes on a component within the template and publish them, i encountered some issue if i update the template on the pages. It will overwrite the content. Is there any other way or recommended step to perform this operations ? Otherwise it will make me rework all the pages when there is some component update within the template.

When you update page components and templates you have 2 options: update and overwrite.

Update will attempt to update the components whilst maintaining the changes (NOTE: depending on the type of update to the component, this may not always work well).

Overwrite essentially resets all the components to their original state.

In our case, we always use Update - In fact, I've hidden the Overwrite button (via CSS) for editors.

Our process for updating components on a template is:

Update/submit component
Update/submit template
Update pages

Thanks for your reply.

I think i have the same step as you, but it turns out when we update a template on a page (not overwrite it), it will return the content back to the default.

Or maybe i'm doing it wrong.. im not sure.
