"action" tag gives error in XSL(Presentation)

Hi people,

When we use the "action" tag in our XSL presentation template , we get an error stating "Null pointer exception" on generation. Does the XSL not support html "action" tag?
Has anyone faced this issue before ?

Please let us know if there is any solution/alternative method to the same .

Say what? HTML doesn't have an action tag.

In any case, XSL doesn't care what your element names are. You could be producing XML, in which case an element named "action" is perfectly valid. If you're getting a NPE, something must be wrong in your code that just happens to be near the element. Post a snippet and/or log message. If you want to be sure, you can change <action> to <xsl:element name="action">. Should produce the same result.

My bad .. What i meant was the "form" action attribute. No matter what I give in the action attribute of the form tag (links,# etc..) , i get this "null pointer exception" on generation from the XSL presentation template.

Could anyone kindly help on the same ?

As Rick said, you need to post a snippet to see how you are parsing that form action in your xsl presentation template to help you.

NPE is almost always a symptom of bad XSL variable references. As said, we still need your code snippet if you want help. The reason I'm posting again here is just to add that you need to add type="external" on your <form> if you want to specify the action attribute yourself. Otherwise, even if you do get it to stop barfing, it'll still replace your value with the default "submit to self + component ID" url.
