Automating the Workflow

HI,

I created a workflow for Content Sync from one Environment to another. I want that Workflow to run Automatically everymonth. Is there anyway to schedule from the back end or configure to run certain dates?

The workflow just callst OD scripts and runs some DNR for LSCS deployments.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

Since you are using windows you can use the job Scheduer to run a .batch file.

This batch file should call your script on all the scheduled dates.

in your custom script.

1) Get the jobspec of your workflow.

2) use iwjobc to execute your workflow,using the jobspec

If that is just a script like shell, you can simply add open deploy schedular which runs at intervals.

Please have a look at "Add a Schedule" in OpenDeploy_7.5_Admin.pdf (HP OpenDeploy - Administration Guide).

from .sh script you can even call java if needed.

Im not sure what you mean by the jobspecs. On the iwjobc the parameters are -i (invoke) workflowfile?

Also how about iwmodelc.bat ???

Im trying to trigger the workflow not the deployment script. the deployment script if I want to schedule I can do that from the Deployment UI on the TS admin.

The jobspec is the XML file that the WF engine uses. It is built from either the WFT or WFM.

You can put a WF in debug mode and get the actual jobspec and customize it to your use.

As per Andy , get the jpbspec file, save the xml as contentsync.xml , and then just for test run iwjobc -i <path to the contentsync.xml >. This will invoke the workflow.

If this is a WFT - you could also just use iwwft_compile.ipl to invoke it - and you can use an XML input file to provide instantiation form data. You don't need to extract the job-spec file if you go this route.

We can use the windows job Scheduler to run any batch jobs in regular intervals
