MediaBin 8.1 - Add asset at folder level and LDAP DSEE7 support

in 4x mediabin user can add asset to folder at any hierarchy by righclicking sub-folder and add file. Unfortunately, 8x is missing this basic functionality.

We have folder structure almost 10 subfolders, and in 8.1 there is only upload link and user has to select subfolder by browsing.

whether this feature will be included in any of the future releases so that user can add an asset at folder level directly?

Also, we are using DSEE7 LDAP (Sun/Oracle Directory server). unfortunately, MB 8.1 doesn't support this LDAP (told by support). our existing MB (4.6.2) is working with DSEE7 LDAP perfectly fine. Its strange that upgrade MediaBin doesn't support this.

Mainly, email functionality is effected due to this (due to user ID field. its coming as blank in backend and frontend and also userID field not loading into Notification server). i have been told that internal engineering case is registered and its not included in 8.1. any ETA when this is fixed and released.

We may not move forward to Upgrade MB if this LDAP is not supported.

If we shift from DSEE then there will be existing folder permissions migrations issues, users migration issue. We will end up in making upgrade complex and risk. Shift from DSEE 7 just for email functionality doesnt sound good.

Selecting a folder path to upload a file is slightly changed in MediaBin 7.x and 8.x version. This feature is already available in MediaBin Upload action. The folder path needs to be selected in the Upload window.

Check the MediaBin Upload action in Administration. The folder path should be set to Select Folder at Runtime to select the folder dynamically during the upload.

Please open a new thread for LDAP related. Requsting not to include multiple queries in same thread.

Right-click to upload file directly to a folder is a great suggestion for RMM. I can see how that could save you clicks. Please file that Enhancement Request with Support.

I'm not aware of a limitation with that LDAP provider. Did you have trouble setting up 8.1 with it?

You need to open a Support case stating this requirement. Support will provide an enhancement request internally and provide you the reference number.

Enhancement Requests are not chargable; Product management team will review and decide on the enhancement requests.

i haven't faced any issues with LDAP DSEE7 with 8.1.

The only problem and of course the major problem is the importing users into notification server.

USER id field is inserting as blank. hence email module is of no use to us. which is show stopper.

i have raised a case with support and they confirmed that engineering team opened a case and working on it. but not sure when will get a fix.
