Search Files in Teamsite by Size

Teamsite search on another host

Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise

 

Just configured search with default settings to index all branches and for the standard set of attributes

 

Per the logs and iwndxstatus all branches are indexed but when I search by size/filesize the search pop-up freezes [ no-response]

 

Confirmed with iwsrchattrib that filesize is one of the extended attributes registered with the index manager.

 

Is filesize suppossed to be an EA? 

Any other way that I can troubleshoot this problem?

There's a mismatch in the TSSearch implementation since the introduction of IDOL. Basically, the indexing saves the data in a field called "FileSize", but the querying looks for a field called "Size". Long story short, causes an unexpected exception whenever you try to do this. You can try opening a support case, but ours went nowhere. The workaround is that "FileSize" will show up as one of the EAs you can filter on, so as long as you use bytes and not any other order of magnitude, then it works. Not using the actual "search by size" fields became a training issue.
