How to Migrate Workflow Jobs?

I'm trying to use the IWWFCONVERT CLT command to migrate my current workflow jobs on server A to server B. Can anyone give me the steps to do this?

What version of TS is running on server A?
What version of TS is running on server B?

I believe that iwwfconvert was intended to migrate workflows from pre-5.5.2 to 5.5.2 servers and not between 5.5.2 servers (I could be wrong).

I'm not sure you can - and frankly I've never considered it to be reasonable to try - there's so much state that can change between two servers that expecting the state of the workflow to remain consistent is (IMO) wishful thinking.

You're better off (again, IMO) getting a list of all files attached to jobs on the old server and then kicking off new jobs with the same files on the new server (once you've gotten them to the state they were in on the old server).

This may be hard to believe, but we migrated out entire backing store, files, workflows, locks, etc. in tact between 6.1 SP2 solaris to 6.7.1 Linux.

You just need to move your entire store over to the new server before you install 6.7.1.

Of course, this assumes you are doing a fresh install of TeamSite 6.7.1.

You just need to move your entire store over to the new server before you install 6.7.1.

Of course, this assumes you are doing a fresh install of TeamSite 6.7.1.

You can move the entire store after the installation too - just shut down TS first.

Depending on what version of TS you're coming from / going to - the move-the-whole-store solution may or may not be officially supported.

In our case we went from 552SP4 to 671 and copied the 552 store to the new server **as a secondary store** and then did an iwmigrate from it into the new default store. Apparently even though 671 can "read" a 552SP4 store - the "stability" of such a cursorily upgraded store is not great and you need to do the iwmigrate to create a "clean" store.

Thus - in this case the workflows would be in the secondary store - which, having a different name than 'default' would probably break file references - at least until files were migrated into the second store - but you'd still have to copy over the workareas to the new default store too (note: iwcpwa does not seem to ship with 671, but it did with 65 and the same binary appears to work okay - but I've only done limited testing of it thus far)

cp -R iw-store is used to copy the store, so you mean to say by using this command, we can also get the active workflow ids and all.

Does this really work in terms of workflows.

Well - you could change it to: sudo cp -pR iw-store/workflow ...
But I suggest you check with Support first before doing so.
