Create EDITION from Workarea without merging into STAGING

Hi,

I am creating a release workarea from STAGING. When want to publish this release workarea, I have to create an EDITION and then publish it. While creating EDITION from release workarea, teamsite is merging release workarea with STAGING and then creating the EDITION. This is creating issues as untested code from STAGING going to production.

Is there a way where I can create EDITION from Workarea directly with out merging into STAGING?

Below is the command which I use to create EDITION

sudo /usr/Interwoven/TeamSite/bin/iwpublish vpath <workAreaName> <editionName> "comment"

You can't, and from a pure content management perspective that would be backwards anyway.

What you should do is change your workflow so it can run from any area, not just editions.

First - you should understand how to develop workflows - if you don't, you need to either get some training or hire someone who already knows.

Second - you should understand how to configure deployments - if you don't, you need to either get some training or hire someone who already knows.

If you believe you already understand the above - you should ask a more specific question presenting the code you have and the change(s) you believe you should make, and then you'll get confirmation or corrections to your approach.

I am posting this solution, just in case it might helpful to someone.

I have created deployment configuration file under /usr/OpenDeployNG/conf with below configuration

and calling the above deployment configuration with below command

sudo /usr/OpenDeployNG/bin/iwodschedadd publish-workarea -k "WORKAREA=WorkAreaToBePublished"
