Workflow Final Email Doesn't work

TS: 7.3.2

Os: Windows 2008 R2 64 bit

I build a workflow that runs couple deployment scripts and then upon successful deployment send an email and ends. For somehow the final email never goes out. Attached is the error that I get and also the .ipm file.

any help would be appreciated.

Hard to say for sure without seeing your code, but it looks like you're attempting to get a TeamSite CSUser object for a user doesn't exist? Perhaps one of your recipients is not a TeamSite user?

I think, memory is a little hazy, that recipients can either be emails, eg. something@example.com, or are treated as a TeamSite user. If you have a mail group or something that doesn't have ...@example.com it will try and load a CSUser object and get the email address from that.

if you are sending an email to a group, you might have to iterate each user from the TS Group and get the email address and set as a recepient.

the funny thing is that When I put a submit task after the Email task the email goes out . When I have only end Workflow after the email task is not working.

any idea why that might happened

In the code does the email Task is expecting an owner of the next task ?, Check if you have any varibale like target_task_name as the task variable.

Actually yes I have a variable target_task_name= finish and the finish Task doesnt have any owner(not such of property) .

DO I need to have that variable or I can just remove it and it will pick the owner of the email task?

Some of the email tasks use the owner of the target task as the target of the email.

Sounds like you configured it to use the owner of the finish task.

You should be able to change that, or you can be really lazy; make a dummy task between the email and finish (put a 1 minute timeout task) with the proper owner for the email and the target task

the error is for No such CSUser...so, you need to know, how the user is added as a recepient,

1) Print the CSUser name during the iteration of users from a group if any.

2) Are you picking the owner of the target_task_name in your code ?

I tried with Dummy Task but that task doesnt have any ownership properties. I was wondering why email task doesnt have a variable or property that accept receipients?

i am not doing any custom coding. i am just setting the properties and configs from the modeler

SInce this is a custom Java, I am not certain how it was extended. However it should be really easy to view the Java and figure it out

When you use the Mail Task it extends MailNotificationTask and this would require target_task_name to make transition to the task name specified in the task varibale, i'm not sure will it try to get the owner and its email address of the target task.

I would recommend to use a external task to notify and make the transition to the next task in the code itself.

It's a bit of a hack, but it should work ...

After the email task - put a usertask (owner set to either the job owner or some generic administrative account (e.g.: "root" | "Administrator" | "tsadmin", etc.) - and have the usertask have a 0-second timeout that transitions it to the endtask.

(you could do the same thing using a no-op externaltask too)
