Teamsite deployment is not working in 6.5

Hello,

In teamsite 6.5 there is a problem with dployment. All other functionalilties are wlorking fine but deployment is throwing 504 - server timeout error at generating the Job/task ID.

Checked the open depoy logs but no error was found.

Could some one please help on resolving this issue urgently?

Dinosaur: 6.5 released in 2004, 6.5 SP2 released in 2005 - only a decade back (let's party like it's 1999 :-))

Was this working before ? , check your workflow log -- if any Smiley Happy

- Could be that someone has deleted the workflow Job, when you are yet in the deploy / any task screen.

Hi,

Thanks for your motivating responses Smiley Happy but we have this ancient version to support and yes, earlier the deployments were working fine.

All of a sudden it stopped working and from logs(iwserver.log, iwevent.log) as well no errors could be identified.

I will sound stupid but as I am new to this technology please help me with how to check the workflow logs?

Look for relevant messaging in $IWHOME/local/logs/iwui/servletd_out.log or similar.

Do you see it in the CGI screen in one of your task ?

Not from the CGI but when we execute any task through command line we see this error. Using the debugger(Fiddler) we are presented with the error 504. From GUI just the "Internet explorer can not display the webpage" messsage appears.

Check ODHOME/od.log, ODHOME/log/hostname_odbase.log, verify that you have the OpenDeploy WebService enabled (in ODHOME/etc/odbase.xml) and that the port(s) that it is registered for using are available and functional (http://hostname:port_number/iw/services/cd/1.1/opendeployservice)

Thanks for the suggestion.

Checked od.log but nothing there related any error.

Howvere when I checked hostname_odbase.log, it is showing

SVR 01020: 2015-08-21 07:03:49 BST GMT+01:00 *** Web service is not configured. It is not enabled. ***

Could you please advise if this can be the cause of this problem and would be very helpful if you could let us know how can it be enabled. I checked odbase.xml but nothing is mentioned there to enable it.

That is likely not the issue unless you changed it recently or if you are using a new OD invocation. That is when you want to invoke OD from REST call, typically from a Java application running the CSSDK (did they even have the CSSDK in 6.5 or was it OpenAPI)

If they're using a Perl script to invoke OpenDeploy - then the web service is not likely to be an issue. If they're using an OOTB Java program to invoke OpenDeploy - then the web service is more likely to be an issue as, I believe, the Java programs use the OD Web Services to initiate the actual deployments (e.g.: the PLC)

We are using perl scripts to invoke opendeploy.

Also while executing any task through command we get ERROR:5000059: Server disconnected .

Can anyone advise on this.

Sounds like you have serious problems with OpenDeploy.

Are you on Windows?

Are any of the log files (ODHOME/od.log, ODHOME/log/*) over 5 GB in size? or is the partition where ODHOME lives significantly full? - OpenDeploy has been known to have issues (at least in the past) when either of those conditions are true.

Also - when you get those errors - what happens if you run iwodcmd serverstatus?

No. we are on Unix.

Size of od.log or any other log file is not even over 1 GB. Also space issue is not there.

For iwodcmd serverstatus it says command not found but when I run iwstat it shows below-

That simply means that ODHOME/bin isn't on your PATH - you can (a) fix your PATH, (b) explicitly run ODHOME/bin/iwodcmd serverstatus, or (c) cd to ODHOME/bin and then run ./iwodcmd serverstatus - my preference is 'a', but that's me.

iwstat isn't important here - we're interested in the status of OpenDeploy when you get the errors.

OK you have to do some work here. You need to start narrowing down the issue.

1st, see if it is an OD issue or a TS issue.

It smells like an OD issue, but the post about server disconnected is something I have seen before, esp on Solaris (you can query the forums for server disconnected).

Try using the OOTB test Open Deploy, does it work ?

Also talk to your sys admins, sometimes people have a script that walks through a Unix server and changes the permissions on files that are setuid. TS has a few of those and those are required. If someone changed those permissions, it can cause server disconnected error messages,

Do any other workflow work ?
