WorkFlow creation sample

Hi,

Can anyone please provide me the guidance about cssdk with java, how I can create new workflow or how to create workflow which update DCR in teamsite with sample example.

Can anyone have the cssdk exmplaes sources? {personal info removed}

What do you mean by "create a new workflow" using CSSDK? You can not create a WFM using the Java API. You can certainly create a WFT using strings with substitution variables, but I doubt that's what you're asking about. It appears you may not fully have a grasp on what the CSSDK can do. You can build externaltask classes that perform functions within your workflow. There are a lot of things you can use it for. But you won't get training here.

The CSSDK is the API for custom interactions with TeamSite via Java or SOAP. So basically, what you can do with the CSSDK is 'almost anything'.

But you can't build a WFM with the CSSDK. You can build a jobspec, but that's just basic Java string manipulation. You should look at the javadocs for the CSSDK and see what it can do.

Scroll down to version 7.1.0, click on it
Scroll down and click on ContentServices for TeamSite Release Notes

Documentation is your friend, download the documentation bundles for the base version (7.1) and your current version and read, read, and read. You'll be surprised how much useful information is in there. Granted, a lot of information is still lacking, but you should be able to get started with the above info, drive, and some basic reading skills.

I want to make interaction with teamsite using Java. I am exploring it.

But my confusion is that how I can execute the sequence of task(e.g fetching some data or DCR from teamsite, make some changes the data and then post the update data in teamsite) using cssdk.

Can you please guide me on this.

Beside's @Smitty97007's question (which, though terse, is still valid) - it would help to know the context of what you want to do. Are you trying to perform these operations as part of a TeamSite workflow? Via a custom menu item? By running some program from the command line on the server? Other??

Generally, the easiest method is "as part of a TeamSite workflow" since the workflow provides authentication context to the program that simplifies the interactions with TeamSite - then the rest of it is dealing with the API and/or using "standard" Java I/O functionality.

If you are looking to use Java for workflow tasks, an example utility task would be to validate files attached to the workflow instance, lets say to see that files of a certain extension were not attached.

You could create a URL task in workflow modeler and in the properties, add in the Java uitlity

/iw-cc/path/to/ValidateWebFiles.do

to your CGI Script Name property. An example of this should be in your PublishLiveSiteContent.ipm found at

$iwmnt/iwadmin/main/workflowModels/WORKAREA/iw-wa/Models

You were provided additional information and queries regarding what you are trying to do and you say you've read the documentation but it isn't helping you.

Without knowing what documentation you've looked at, and what code you've attempted to write - it is very difficult to provide you with more guidance. If you're simply looking for someone to hand you code, you're probably going to be waiting a long time. If you take the time to "show your work", you are much more likely to get assistance here.
