how to customize teamsite ui login screen in TS741?

Hi all,

I am going to migrate teamsite from TS6.5 to TS 741 on linux server. we have some customized urls/link on TS ui login screen for TS users to access TS internal documentaion.

Can anybody suggest me which file needs to be edited for this kind of customization. i have attached the customized screen from TS6.5. same needs to be done for TS741.

This is an unsupported customization, so you're on your own to figure out the details.. but suffice it to say that the principle is roughly the same as before -- start with the new login page, copy it back to the proper place in customer_src, and then re-add your extra HTML into that file.

Anything is possible. Certianly not supported

You need to search for the right file to change.

I might run a command like

sudo grep -rl "an HP company" /opt/interwoven

(search for the text at the bottom of the login screen)

Here are a couple of files to start your search from:

./ApplicationContainer/server/default/work/jboss.web/localhost/iw-cc/org/apache/jsp/teamsite/auth/login_jsp.class
./ApplicationContainer/server/default/work/jboss.web/localhost/iw-cc/org/apache/jsp/teamsite/auth/login_jsp.java

./ApplicationContainer/server/default/deploy/iw-cc.war/teamsite/auth/login.jsp

I've never asked if this is supported or not, my instinct says it's not but here's what I do for login customization.

Copy $iw-home/httpd/webapps/content_center/teamsite/auth/login.jsp to $iw-home/local/config/lib/content_center/customer_src/web/teamsite/auth/login.jsp
Modify to meet your business requirements
Rebuild the webapp

NOTE: This will PROBABLY be clobbered during an upgrade so be sure you have it saved somewhere (like… in TeamSite config branch maybe?)

$iw-home/httpd/webapps/content_center/teamsite/auth/login.jsp is the file in my production server which has all these customization. we are using TS6.5 and there is no such dir $iw-home/local/config/lib/content_center/customer_src/web/teamsite/auth/login.jsp

i think i need to copy this login.jsp to above dir if i want to migrate this customization to TS741(different server) ?

TS 6.5 hasn't been supported for some time now and my memory doesn't permit me to remember the file system off hand. But you'll need to manually create .../teamsite/auth under the following structure under $iw-home/local/config/lib/content_center/customer_src/web/

If that parent path doesn't exist then you'll need to provide some more information on your 6.5 webapp.

What? Making this change on a 6.5 server makes no sense. The file will have no impact on that server and there's no way you'll be able to validate that your changes worked correctly. Other files may even break the 6.5 UI (although probably not this one) and the only thing you'll accomplish is confusing the heck out of anybody else looking through your customizations.

Move your implementation to a 7.4 dev server, apply your fixes and additional customizations, and then move that to prod. It makes no sense to try retrofitting your code on the 6.5 server itself.

its already working in TS 6.5 production. i need to make it work in TS741 after migration.

I get that, but the way you talked about how you're migrating your customizations implied that you were making them on the 6.5 server and then lifting the codebase as a whole and dropping it on 7.4 as-is, sending @iw_child down that weird tangent.

Might be common sense, but I'm just explicitly stating (for you and anybody else visiting this thread in the future) that changes to your codebase for 7.4 should be applied exclusively to your 7.4 servers.

While the suggestion would be to implement in 7.4, business process may dictate implementing in the lower environment and migrating up.

The User Interface Customization Guide for 6.5 will help with your GUI customizations for 6.5 and likewise for the 7.4. (both attached)
