Is it possible to change hostname and ip address of a teamsite server after installation ?

Hi All,

I am migrating a teamsite server from TS 6.5 (solaris) to TS741 on a linux box.

In order to do that i will do a feash install of TS741 on linux box . will point the new iw-store to the old one for contant migration. compatiable OD will also be installed. After OD server configuration and deployment test ..i need to do a failover. which means old teamsite server ip address and hostname will be given to this new teamsite server on linux. and old server will be decommissioned.

My question is ..will teamsite license work after changing the hostname and ip address?

if not then what is the procedure to do a failover incase of zero downtime?

License will not work if you change the hostname

You can change IP (assuming the license was tied to a specific host/domain)

ALso I assume your license was on 6.5 SP2 which was a different license form 6.5

I did not notice that you are going from SOlaris to Linux. I know the OD licenses specific to the type of unix, I think TS is as well.

Work with support to move you license. You will need to decommission the original license when you create a new one.

As an aside, and possibly solution - do your users access TeamSite via the server's hostname or via a DNS alias?

If you use a DNS alias - the license issue could be simple[r] in that each server (old, and new) could have distinct names and thus distinct licenses, and you make the DNS point to the new server as part of the "failover".

This assumes that none of your configuration files / customizations have the name of the server hard-coded in them. If they do, and you're migrating those files over, you'll have to make sure that those references are fixed (ideally to point to either "localhost" or to the DNS alias)

Note: Even if you go this route, you'll still want to contact HP Support to let them know what you're doing so that they can remove the "old" license from their records for you, which they may have to do before you can generate a permanent license for the "new" server (again, check with them if you have any issues generating the license for the new server)
