This has been said numerous times on these forums, but honestly, training should not be optional with this product stack. When your organization pays that much money for a platform, you might expect it to be slightly more complicated than "I'll just pick it up as I go" (although you'd expect the manuals to be a little better written).

You can possibly start looking at the component guide (it's a branch in teamsite put there by the installer), but that might get you a rudimentary understanding of how the pieces fit together at best.

Well then you either looked at the wrong doc or didn't understand what you read. The SP Developers Guide is probably the best manual for your needs.

That being said, follow the advice previously given and get some training.

Here is a very good book to start with if you have no clue about what teamsite/opendeploy does :

It covers an old version of teamsite ,but it covers the teamsite basics.

What it doesn't yet cover in this book is sitepublisher,livesite and mediabin.

But it gives a very good intro to the product range.

Preferably try setting up the product on a vm whilst reading the book. That'll help you learning it to use.
