How to retrieve pages where the DCR is used?

Hello,

I have a "News Content DCR" located in a single "templatedata" directory, and this DCR is used in several pages (i.e. more than 5 Countries).

Question: Is there a way to retrieve the pages that are linked to that DCR or a simple xsl code to display the utilization of the DCR on those multiple pages?

Have you tried using the Actions > Find Associated Files menu option?

Yes, this menu option selection can display the pages that uses this DCR, and it is manual view ...BUT... is there a way to retrieve this using xsl or within the component level so I can just do a node selection of that DCR and view all pages linked to it?

Possibly with a significant amount of effort.

If you want it in XSL that means you are writing Java.

There does not appear to be a CLT that produces that output, so you would probably have to decompile some code to figure it out. There is a step in the PLC WF that will find associated files, I would find the JAR that calls and start there.

Changing the compnent view will be another level of complexity.

CSSDK provides methods for retrieving dependency information - so, if you write your own custom class to do what you want and then hook that into the XSL - you could probably get it to work - but I don't think this would be "trivial"

No need to decompile anything; this is part of the CSSDK since 7.2. Just resolve the CSSimpleFile for the DCR and then call csfile.getParentAssociations() and/or csfile.getChildAssociations().

The issue with using this in a component is that neither the CSSDK nor this information are available on the runtime side, so you need to be careful about how you access this from a component. Blue sky recommendation would be to use workflow to save the info you need into an EA just before publishing, and then have your component query LSCS.

Thanks for the tips and insights on the custom "java" approach... need to start somewhere...
