Difference between LiveSite and LSCS

Whats the difference between LiveSite and LSCS ? I worked with LiveSite a while before (I remember some concepts vaguely). Now in this new environment, we have LSCS and LSDS. I can not fine any document which explains working of LSCS and LSDS. Which are the log files and how content flows. Only doc I found was LSCS_7.3_TechRef_rev1_en.pdf and LSDS_DotNet_7.3.2_TechNote_en.pdf.

If these are the only docs available, I believe they are neither enough nor clear in explaining working of these suites.

Please let me know, which are the log files, I shd be looking at to understand errors.

LiveSite 3.1 has effectively been renamed LSDS (Display Services) in 7.x. LSCS (Content Services) is a new product that didn't exist before. One is not necessarily required by the other, unless you're also using the Targeting module.

Look at the 7.1 section for the documents. It seems Autonomy decided to only provide updates to base-version documents rather than new copies at each version.

I think you are talking about Section 7.1 of SP guide.

1) I see a diagram in which .page, .site. .xsl and DCR being deployed to LSDS. While only DCR is being deployed to LSCS. Thus DCR is being deployed to LSCS and LSDS both. When does LSCS get deployed to LSCS and when to LSDS ?

2) iw-home/local/config/datacapture.cfg.livesite.template is file with content rules. In this XML file I see for ruleset elements at root. Is this not a violation of XML formatting rules ? There has to be only one root element, under which any number of elements can exist. But here there sare 4 ruleset elements

Where can I find detailed description of LSCS ?

DCRs typically get pushed to both LSCS and LSDS.

Think of LSCS as a data repository, and the data can be queried and returned to LSDS for display.

LSCS_7.3_TechRef_rev1_en.pdf is the most recent LSCS document I have.

No. I was talking about the downloads section that pertains to version 7.1 of the product stack.

I am using 7.3.2 on linux, will it be in the same path as 7.1 ?

LSDS is a display service from HP(Autonomy/Interwoven). It has authoring (Site Publisher) and Runtime.

Using a set of custom LiveSite tags, you can embed LiveSite pages in your legacy Web applications. This allows you to use SitePublisher to control content without having to re-code any existing JavaServer pages (JSP). Your legacy Web application must meet the following requirements:

The application uses a web.xml resource file to load the Web application configurations.
The application consists of JSPs.
Each JSP includes <html>, <head>, and <body> tags.

To embed a LiveSite page

Insert the following LiveSite tag library tags into an existing JSP from your Web application in the appropriate place in the HTML, depending on where you would like the LiveSite page to be rendered:

Include the Tag Library by adding <%@taglib uri="http:// wwwmysite.com/livesite/tags/livesite-rendering" prefix="ls"%> at the top of the JSP.
Add <lsage src="sites/siteName/pageName.page"/> just before the <html> tag or html data in the JSP.
Add a <ls:body/> tag within the <body> tag of the JSP where you want the SitePublisher page to be rendered.
Add a <ls:linkStylesheet/> tag to the <head> tag of the JSP.
Add a <ls:script/> tag to the <head> tag of the JSP

Restart your Web application.
Open the JSP from your Web application in a browser. The JSP page should open with the rendered section containing your SitePublisher page.

Deployment Configuration

Configuring the deployment requires on both the host server and runtime environment systems.
