TeamSite 7.4.1 Installation on Linux 64bit version - Compile UVFS Module

We started installation of TS 7.4.1 on Linux box but before installation we are trying to compile the UVFS Module which is recommended on Linux box to avoid unneccsary errors for Teamsite installation and post configuration.

Our Unix team is trying to compile UVFS module which is given in installation document but they are getting below error.

ERROR:

[root@bvasndd03 uvfs_2.0.7]# gmake

gmake -C /lib/modules/2.6.32-358.23.2.el6.x86_64/build SUBDIRS=/usr/local/uvfs_2.0.7 modules

gmake: *** /lib/modules/2.6.32-358.23.2.el6.x86_64/build: No such file or directory. Stop.

gmake: *** [all] Error 2

[root@bvasndd03 uvfs_2.0.7]#

Please let me know if this really required to compile the UVFS module or else what is the best ways to avoid the above error and need to look forwars for our installation.

Yes, you need the UVFS module as that is the driver responsible for building the iw mounts.

Make sure that you have the following packages before you build the package :

gcc

gcc-g++

kernel-devel

I have check in our Linux box we have the below things regarding the UVFS module.

Just try it and find out -- there's no harm in running the make repeatedly as you update missing dependencies.

If it doesn't work with the list you posted, my guess is that your kernel-devel is a few versions too high for what it wants to use, so you might need kernel-compat as well.

We will start TS installation with this information and if any issue occurs while installation I will reply the errors in this thread.

Just noticed another possible root cause.

Looks like the linux kernel you are using is an old one. May be you need to update your kernel to a more recent version, 2.6.32-431.3.1.el6.x86_64 and then try building the uvfs package.

I check with our Linux admin team they are telling

Linux kernel 3.x is released and its part of Red hat 7.

we are still using red hat 6 and in the TeamSte release notes 7.4.1 it clearly mentioned Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES/AS 5.x and 6.x, 32-bit and 64-bit so we are using as per given specs.

I am not sure is this really an issue for TS installation. I raised a Support ticket to assist with UVFS module compile error.

I am not a Linux admin, but I strongly believe that 2.6.32-431.3.1.el6.x86_64 is for RedHat 6 and not for RedHat 7.x.
