SiteMap in TeamSite

Is Sitemap used only by search engines OR is there any other major use also for end user ?

 

I read the manual and could figure out use of SiteMap by search engines (google, bing) only.

 

Please let me know, if there is any other use also.

No, the SitePublisher SiteMap can be used for a number of items. 

 

Most people use that to build the top navigation/left navigation/breadcrumbs

 

You can also be creative and use it for the footer and other sections that are groups of links.

 

Check the OOTB components to see how to get the SiteMap from the External which can be read in XSL
