How to get the Job Id and Task id for the Job that is Initiated on fly?

Hi,

 

We have a requirement where in we had to initiate the wfm based workflow from wft (.ipl) file. We have achieved this by using iwmodelc and invoked a nested job using iwjobc command.

 

However we need help on how to get the job id and it's corresponding task id's for the nested job (in our case it is wfm workflow) which is initiated on fly. Find the attached Code snippet.

In the same way as your script changes the owner, you could create a placeholder job variable in your jobspec xml and set its value when this perl code runs. That way, when your child workflow launches, it has a job variable that saved the id of the parent task and/or job and your child workflow code can reference it that way.

 

Side note: dynamically rewriting the one XML file seems like a bad idea. I don't know how your regex will work more than just the first time (and why are you forking a new perl thread just for that?). It's surely not thread safe. You'd be better off reading in the WorkflowInfo.xml file, making the changes in memory, printing it back out to a temporary jobspec file with the instance-specific modifications, and then running iwjobc on that.
