TS on Veritas Cluster
nithinbose
Hi,
We are planning to install TeamSite 5.5.2 on a two node cluster of
Solaris 8 boxes.
We are trying to configure TS in High Availability mode.
There is lot of references for doing the same using Sun Cluster and couple of
references
to use Veritas Volume Manager but none to use the Veritas Cluster Manager
application.
Any information and advice wrt Veritas Cluster Manager and TS will be of
great help to us.
Thanks in advance
Nithin

Hi Kanak,
TeamSite HA agent works only with Sun cluster (atleast that was the state in TS 5.5.2) Please check documentation.
Also, the HA agent itself has a lot of shortcomings, the workflow instances are not recoverable and similar problems.
Its probably a better solution to not use the IW HA agent and use your own failover mechanism to support the cluster. This is what we have done and is working well so far.

Hi Nithin,
Thanks for your response.I have few questions about the Veritas cluster setup.
1. Do you need two installatin on two nodes?
2. Should we use virtual IP configured? Or are you using a loadbalancer for two IPs.
3. Do you need to configure Veritas Cluster Manager Agents to support failover.
4. What part of setup needs to be shared across the two servers.Just the Teamsite Store or more?
Please let me know if there are any specific things which you may want to share.
Thanks,
-Kanak

Hi Kanak,
1. Do you need two installatin on two nodes?
Yes, you need to install TS on both nodes, however have a shared drive to host the backing store.
2. Should we use virtual IP configured? Or are you using a loadbalancer for two IPs.
We used virtual IPs, and we did not have any problems, expect that OD had to be bound to the real host IPs. I am sure you could try using a load balancer, if cost permits.
3. Do you need to configure Veritas Cluster Manager Agents to support failover.
We used a Sun cluster, and yes we had to write custom agents to support the failover. Note that you need to failover the shared disks as well for TS to access the right store.
4. What part of setup needs to be shared across the two servers.Just the Teamsite Store or more?
Just the store.
