Rules execution issue

Hi,

I have created a rule to dislay locale specific contents and tagged the DCRs with taxonomy. While trying to execute the rule on runtime, I am getting below error:

Unable to find 'RulesToExecute' parameter

WARN [com.interwoven.livesite.external.runtime.RulesEngineExternals] Unable to find 'RulesToExecute' parameter.
2015-10-19 16:17:44,202 DEBUG [com.interwoven.livesite.external.ExternalCall] execute: no result document returned from external call:

I am using OOTB executeRules method from RulesEngineExternals class. Please suggest if I am missing something.

Note- I have deployed the rule to LSCS and chekced and it is present there at LSCS.

For Unable to find 'RulesToExecute' parameter , Check in your component if you have set any such action parameters.

Try with a simple targeted component and select a rule then Publish your site.

For running the rule, you should use the datum with name "RulesToExecute" as mentioned below -

    </ContentTypes>

I guess you didn't execute the rule this way, that's why you are getting this error.

Thanks Ashish for this. This has resolved that issue but now I am getting another one.

The runtime log -livesite.runtime.log shows the below error :

Unable to find the asset -iwov-resources/rules/[locale based rule.rule]. Somehow the rule is getting appended with [ ] and RuleEngineExternal is not able to execute it due to "[ ]".

I am using OOTB RulesEngineExternal for this. Do you know the reason why it is appending the "[ ]"?

I guess you passing the datum as parameter to external. Can you check on that.

Also, could you please provide the Content XML section of your component.

Yes . I am passing the rule as parameter to exernal class. In the content XML uunder the tag value , I have provided the rule name which is to be executed.

I tried looking into the document for more inputs on Rule datum, but it is not very clear. Please have a look at content XML once and let me know if I am doing something wrong here.

When you place the "Rule" datum in context xml, LS will internally trigger the "RulesEngineExternals" class. So, no need to pass the rule in external. Just use datum and its done.

Thanks a lot Ashish for this . This has resolved the issue. Now my rule is getting executed and only part remaining is to write the presentation layer for it.
