TeamSite New Site and New Page Template Customization

Hi All,

I want to know if we can Customize the New Page screen. As soon as we click on New Page in TeamSite we get a template to select the layout and other required fields. We want to customize the same. Please let me know if it is possible.

Possible - yes.

Supported - I don't think so.

In what manner are you trying to customize it? For what purpose?

There are ways to customize things in a semi-supported manner (by copying relevat code into one of the two customer toolkit src directories), but, as the term implies, that's only semi-supported in that it allows for the changes to be re-applied in the event that the original toolkit code is re-installed; but does not come with any blessing of the vendor in terms of what customizations they support.

Thank you for the quick response.

According to the customer the New page template has a very dull UI. So they want us to check if we can re-arrange fields in the new page template and also if any other customization of adding or removing the fields. Also what files needs be changed to acheive the same.

A I said, you might be able to do it in a semi-supported fashion. If it's just a matter of the CSS - that's reasonably supported in many respects and likely to be a successful semi-supported modification if not officially supported. If it's anything else, you'd have to dig into the various JSPs, possibly reverse-engineer classes, etc. and there you get into the murky waters of how far is too far with respect to your license and being able to get support if anything goes wrong (now or in the future).

The supported mechansim would be to clearly document what is desired and submit it as an enhancement request on the Support site and hope that HP takes it into consideration and does something about it. Won't help you "now", but it might help you (and others) down the line.
