Embed Macromedia Flash in DCR?

Hello all,

i was curious about the best way to embed Macromedia Flash in DCR...we have a DCT where users can browse to the .swf file but that doesnt work (obviously)

somehow we need to allow users to browse to the file then automatically place all the necessary code (see below) around it. please advise, thanks!

I might be misunderstanding, but if the only bit that is templated is the filename then could you put all the blue text in your PT and capture the red text from your DCR?

yes sort of...except we arent using presentation templates. we are reading the DCRs thru .jsp pages.

so im guess i need to blue text automatically populat or embedded in the DCR somehow?

Ok, I don't know too much about JSP's but why can't you put that code into the JSP?

I am guessing the JSP is somehow generating the final page...if so surely you can add the code to play the flash file in the JSP?

Howdy,

Ok you have two ways to go around it, first is you embend the code in the TPL files, as Michael told you and this code will be merged with file name or solution two , is more complex, and more prone to problems. You use formapi, so that on ItemChange for the field where you browse for you file you add you special tags with the file name on the field.

how would i go about automatically adding code w/ the formapi? i looked thru the formapi docs and didnt see anything about this.

You register and event against the item were you browse to get the swf, and onchange the formapi reads the value, replaces it were its required and resets the value of that item with the code and swf

I think the code [field definition] has to already be within the DCT (directly or though an inline perhaps) - and you would use FormAPI to enable/disable or hide/show the fields based on events that you register to watch within the DCT. This is as opposed to having FormAPI actually *add* fields into the DCT structure on the fly - which I do not believe is possible.

Hi,
anyone able to show flash file in the templating form? I mean the way it should look like on the webpage and not just the path. I'm able to with the use of iframe, but would like to avoid this as I don't want the extra iframe code in the Html file. I could probably strip it out in the presentation template, but is there an easier way?

Right now we can paste the required object code into the form, and it shows correctly on the Html page. It's just that it would be nicer for the users, if they could get it as wysiwyg.

Any help is appreciated!

I just found some info on the Ektron site, and apparently it will be easier with version 3 of eWebEditPro:

Summary

eWebEditPro supports Macromedia Flash in the content.

eWebEditPro 3.0 supports Flash. However, it is configurable whether the object appears in the editor or not. To have it appear in the editor, set the hideobject attribute in the configuration XML data to "false".

eWebEditPro 2.6 supports Flash, but it does not appear in the editor.

eWebEditPro 2.0 versions earlier than 2.0.0.34 did not support the EMBED tag used to include Macromedia Flash in the content
