Preprocessor to fetch the file's EA

I'm looking to see if the selected files for the workflow are already tagged using a pre-processor and pass it as global variable to the WF. Was not able to find any API's to acheive this in a preprocessor.

Is this possible to acheive with preprocessor? if not is there any alternate to acheive this?

I've not used a workflow preprocessor myself, but a from a quick look at the documentation and the classes:

 

• The WFMFile object doesn't have the appropriate methods. You might be able to use the CSSimpleFile object (which does have the methods - but this is in the CSSDK, not the WFM API) if you can create one using the file vpath, but I'm not sure if you have access to the CSClient object in this context (check point 3).
• The WFMTask (and by extension the other task types) has methods about EA's, eg getEAStartOPVariable, but I've no idea what they are or what they do (it looks like they are to do with the task itself, but I thought I was told at one point they can be used to add an EA to a file as it transitions through a task). You may be able to explore this option and see if you can check if the relevant EA has been set.
• The WFMFile object does have the filepath and you may be able to use this to access the file via the CSSDK to get the EAs. There's probably a bit of work doing this though - eg. a service that gets the path and returns what you need.
