Custom Report Generation

Hi,

 

I need to generate a report for a DCR consisting properties like size, last modified etc.

I've customized my Teamsite UI where I've created a "Report" option menu with dropdown values consisting of "Generate Reports" Option.

Now, when I click on the Option menu a URL is invoked and a .cgi is called without any parameters.

Now, my need is that when i click on the menu option after selecting a DCR the associated parameters should be passed in a query string and report needs to be generated and opened with that associated DCR ID or Class Name.

Also, there should be one more thing that I should be able to read the DCR data as well as the DCR's data of the previous versions too of the current selected DCR.

Any Suggestions ?? Any kind of Guides , Docs or pdf's related to the same will be helpful !

If you are asking how one gets a list of pre-selected files for use within a CGI called as a custom menu item within TeamSite - the answer is to reference them from the environment and/or cookie variables within the CGI code.

 

Temporarily redirect your custom menu item to reference /iw-bin/show_env.ipl to see what's available and/or look at the code within show_env.ipl for examples of how to retrieve that information (if you are not already familiar with same).

 

If you already have the information and are now trying to figure out how to access information from the DCR(s) that were pre-selected (or from some specific DCR without being selected?) - that's more a case of either parsing the XML yourself or retrieving EA information from the DCR via something like iwextattr.

 

To get information from a previous version of the file you would have to retrieve the edition-based path of the previous version (iwrlog may be of help) and then parse that.

 

If you need more help than the above - you should probably hire an experienced / knowledgeable consultant to come in and do it for you (I'm currently available ;-))
