Schedule Publish using PLC Workflow

Hi,

I would like to implement scheduling content publish through PLC workflow. Please suggest me the steps if anyone had already implemented it.

Below are two options that I am thinking but I am not sure how far I can be successful on this.

1. Create a dummy task before publishing the content and then add a timeout link to the dummy task and deploy task with the configuration variable which will be the same as scheduling time. But I am not sure whether I can set date and time for a timeout link.

2. Modify HeadLessDeployTask/DeployTask class to take schedule time as Task variable and schedule the OD deploy. I need to see a way to modify DeployTask class.

I am not an expert in Workflows, but had basic knowledge in workflows.

#1 is a fairly easy way to go. Yes you can set the date/time for the timeout link on a dummy task. Pretty easy to do this in the custom-instantiation.cfg file.

Make certain you think this through. What happens if I submit a file that is already in the "waiting" state ? Also, this needs to be done after any approval steps. I saw one implementation that did it before the approval, which never happened until well after the content was supposed to go live.

Just run all the use cases in your head to make certain they are covered.

I have started implementing #1 solution. I have done the following

1. Created Dummy task and linked the "Taxonamy Files Success" link as input link to it.

2. Linked Deploy Task and Dummy Task with a timeout link. I set default value to relative 30 mins for testing, but will change it with a configuration variable.

But when I associate this workflow to a branch and test it. I am getting the below error.

"Task ScheduleDummyTask (2865317) cannot be transitioned, because it is not a transitionable task.
Permission Access Denied!"

Can you please let me know if I am missing anything here.
