Rotating access.log in admin console->Logs tab

Hi,

 

 

We are trying to rotate access.log using logs tab in admin console but am not able to see access.log in logs tab (as per document access log should be visible and accessible through the Logs tab for master users).Is there any configuration file we need to change to get it visible under logs tab?

 

We are using teamsite 8.1,Linux platform.

Hello,

 

I had the same problem and asked HP about it. It happens that the guides are wrong and neither of access.log, error.log nor modsec_audit.log are available for rotation through the Admin UI. They were intentionally removed.

 

The solution given by HP was to edit the Apache embeded in Teamsite configuration:

 

 

File: iwwebd.conf.template, under <iw-home>/iw-webd/conf:

Replace this:

 

CustomLog "__IWWEBD_LOGS__/access__IWLOG_EXT__" common

 

by this:

 

CustomLog "| /opt/Interwoven/TeamSite/iw-webd/bin/rotatelogs __IWWEBD_LOGS__/access__IWLOG_EXT__ 86400" common

 

And this:

 

ErrorLog "__IWWEBD_LOGS__/error__IWLOG_EXT__"

 

By this

 

ErrorLog "| /opt/Interwoven/TeamSite/iw-webd/bin/rotatelogs __IWWEBD_LOGS__/error__IWLOG_EXT__ 86400"


File: modsecurity.conf.template, replace this:

 

SecAuditLog __IWWEBD_LOGS__/modsec_audit.log

 

By this:

SecAuditLog "| /opt/Interwoven/TeamSite/iw-webd/bin/rotatelogs -l __IWWEBD_LOGS__/%Y-%m-%d-%H_%M_%S.modsec_audit.log 86400"

Replace " /opt/Interwoven/TeamSite" with the correct iw-home path on your server.

Don't forget to run "iwreset -a" to regenerate the *.conf files.

 

 

This should rotate those logs every 24 hours.

You'll need to adapt this to your own configuration and play araund to make it work.
