Retaining the DCR version in Teamsite 7.3.2 while renaming the containing folder

Hi,

Is there any way we can retain the DCR version after renaming the containing folder?

I have multiple folder inside data folder and those folders contain multiple DCRs. DCRs are having multiple versions. Now if I rename a folder then the DCR version showing 0+ inside that folder. On checking the versions from properties then I can see few of the version but not all. I mean is there any way to preserv the versions of the files as it is before renaming the containing folder.

The same thing is happening if renaming is done using iwrename command line as well.

TeamSite version is 7.3.2 and it is in solaris platform.

To answer your question specifically as stated - I don't think there is any way to do it.

However, have you tried using iwrlog on the file to see if you can see all the versions?

I have verified using iwrlog but it shows the same result.

As I mentioned earlier, renaming the folder shows file version 0+, but in properties->versions I can see few old versions and all the versions are as "Version1". But this is also not happening in all situation. I have tested multiple situation, in some cases the old versions are just gone.

So is it a bug in TeamSite or they treat this as a feature?

I'm not sure what you're seeing, so I ran a quick couple of tests on my TeamSite 8.0.0.0 Windows server and found consistant results (including a consistant bug):

For some reason, the last version of the file submitted prior to renaming the folder (version 5) gets its version number munged (version 0%2B) and then completely omitted from the iwrlog output after a new version (a new version 1) is created.

Other than that one version, all the other versions appear to be there (again, I know no way to force it to continue the numbering sequence from before the directory was renamed) - the edition containing the omitted file still appears to be present:

And the file and it's history (including version 5) are available through that area (News\Edition\#18\testa\tf.txt) - but for some reason the iwrlog output seems to get munged.

Granted, I've only done a limited test, and with very few versions included, but from that limited amount of testing, the only version that I see getting "lost" is the one just prior to the renaming of the folder; all other versions appear to be present and accounted for.
