I am trying to decide whether a new Linux install of Teamsite 8.1 should have an external Oracle 12 DB for the event sub system.
I am Teamsite only as an authoring tool with no runtime. Open Deploy will be installed to deploy the content snippets. Currently the user base will be circa 50 and the store may be up to 100GB. Search is also to be used. The solution is also to have GEO site resilience.
On reading the course manuals and the documentation I am still no clearer whether an external DB is required. The literature states that a database is optional since as Teamsite only writes to it and not reads from it. If Search and Reporting used, then a DB is required. It also suggests that the internal Derby database is sufficient for most usage scenarios.
Therefore an option I have is to only use internal Derby and have Seach installed on the same box or Search on an external box.
Has anyone on this forum used Derby and found it sufficient? Also does index communicate with iweventsubd or does it consume messages via a direct DB link?
