editing dcr
khan
A user just got a new computer and is using TS 552 for the first time on this new computer. She is able to log into TS okay, but when she checks a dcr (w/visualformat) to edit, all of her browsers get closed out. We've tried closing out all of her browsers, relogging in and clearing her cache, but the same thing happens. What's the problem?

How bout you tell us what sort of computer it is...
MAC, winXP, etc etc ... and what browser is being used
Have you installed the Service Packs for TS 5.5.2

Someone else just asked this same question earlier today. It is most likely the known issue caused by a Microsoft security hot fix for IE5.5 or a Service Pack:

She has a new Win2000 running IE5.5. The patch to IE5.5 was applied to our systems months ago, and no one else is having trouble with vf. It might be her IE settings?

Not sure, It may be however that all of the other clients that had the MS patch installed also had the ektron patch installed as well (which would stop the crash from happening). The autoinstaller will continue to install the old version of VF until you completely replace the old version on the server (it could be that only the clients were patched and not the server).
The other thing to make sure is that you need to have active X enabled for VF to work (which would be under tha custom security settings for the browser).

Installing SP2 will fix this aswell as many other bugs
Its always best to make sure your system is completely up to date meaning service packs.
You need to uninstall visual format from your clients PC's and use the new version found in SP2.
The release notes will explain this.

I'm told we're updated. The thing is, she doesn't even get to the prompt to install vf. All she does is choose the dcr to edit, and then all her browsers close out. VF is not yet installed on her new pc. I will have to check out her browser settings.
