Creating report

Hi,

I would like to create a report where a user would be able to insert some criteria through a form and then a report would be extracted from a database based on those criteria.

Can this be done through BIRT and if yes would you be able to point me to some documentation that would help me do this?

When you say "form", do you mean like an excell spread sheet or are you talking about specific set of parameters for a given report?

as far as I understand your question, you are looking for filter criteria.
In this case you can do it via parameter.

Do you know Addison Wesley's book "BIRT A Field Guide to Reporting"
I find it very helpful.
