Workflow Help

We are trying to write a workflow that can deploy first version of a certain file to different servers and also we want to see which version of the file is located on which server at any given time.
How do we approach to this problem??

There could be other ways that I dont know about, but it looks like you'll probably have to log this sort of stuff yourself and view some sort of custom report based off this.

If you only deploy based off editions, then you may be able to use the open deploy logs to find out what went where.

This may not be strictly a workflow question so you may get better answers if you make your posts appropriately.
