Can't get dateDifferent in OpenDeploy to work
jeremystitt
I am deploying (using OpenDeploy 5.5.2) the latest edition of a branch on my TeamSite server (win2k) to my webSphere server (unix) and I want to use dateDifferent in the comparisonRules section. It is my understanding that when using dateDifferent, the deployment script should only deploy files that have a newer timestamp on the source server when compared to the target server.
The problem I am seeing is that every time the deploy is run, ALL the files are being deployed, even though their timestamps are NOT different. The log file says [reason src-is-newer]. I have checked the timestamps on both servers and they are identical. Can someone help me figure out why this would be happening?
Here is what my deploy script looks like:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1" ?>
<deploymentConfiguration >
<localNode host="teamsite.citgo.com" />
<replicationFarmSet >
<replicationFarm name="IntegrationFarm" >
<nodeRef useNode="Integration" >
</nodeRef>
</replicationFarm>
</replicationFarmSet>
<definition name="WEB-INF lib" >
<source >
<sourceFilesystem area="//IWSERVER/default/main/Internet/CitgoCom/WEB-INF/EDITION" filelist="" >
<pathSpecification >
<path name="lib" >
</path>
</pathSpecification>
</sourceFilesystem>
</source>
<target useReplicationFarm="IntegrationFarm" >
<targetFilesystem area="/usr/WebSphere/AppServer/installedApps/CitgoCom.ear/CitgoCom.war/WEB-INF/lib" >
</targetFilesystem>
<comparisonRules dateDifferent="yes" revert="no" ignoreAcls="yes" ignoreModes="yes" ignoreUser="yes" ignoreGroup="yes" >
</comparisonRules>
</target>
</definition>
<deployment transactional="no" >
<execDeploymentTask useDefinition="WEB-INF lib" downRev="" >
</execDeploymentTask>
</deployment>
</deploymentConfiguration>
And this is what is written to the log file every time this deployment is run.

I figured out more of what was going on. My deploy is deploying from the latest edition in Interwoven, so every time we publish a new edition and then run this deploy, all the files are redeployed. If I run the deploy from the same edition twice, I don't see it deploying all the files as I described above the second time.
This must have something to do with how editions are published and written to disk? Not sure...

The dateDifferent attribute will deploy a source file if its date is different than the file on the target, regardless of whether the source is older or newer. Not sure if that's what you intended.
If you only want to deploy source files that are newer, set dateDifferent to "no" so that you get the default comparison behavior.
