Multi-format Backing Store
Jumjum
We just installed TS5.5.2 and we want to use the multi-format backing store. Has anyone done this on a fresh install (no branches, other than main) and no workarea's? I have read the documents and I am interested in finding out how it went. Did you use the iwmigrate to do this or did you specify your backing stores in the iw.cfg... any clarification and info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

What do you mean by "multi-format" store? Maybe you mean "MultiStore"? I have not used it out in the field myself, but it was pretty much trivial for me to set up when I had a chance to try it out.
Keep in mind that each store is an individual licensed cost (using more than just the default store is not free).

Greetings Nacks,
I wasn't aware that their was a price to having more than one backing store if they resides on the same TS server? How much for each store?

You should contact your sales representative. I am not certain on current pricing and it may be that you may have already payed for it (would be in your contracts I would guess). The sales rep should know.

Thanks,
I have heard different things from others ranging from 50k to 25k to free. I am not sure what our situation is like. thanks again.

I got a quote for $50K per each additional backing store above and beyond the "default/main" backing store.

Tom,
I have heard from another source that they did not charge them for backing stores that resided on the same server as their TS server. Meaning if you place a backing store on the network, then they (interwoven) considers it another instance. If you keep it on the same box, then I suppose they dont care because it acts as one instance. I am waiting to hear back from our sales rep on this.

Yeah, lemme know what they say, because that would be awesome!
I'd love to split up my current backing store into multiples, but couldn't convince myself (not to mention my boss) that it was worth 50K.

Will do, I am in the same boat as you. There is NO WAY, we can approval for paying that much to split the backing store when we can accomplish the same architecture with branches. I will post what I find here. So hopefully I will hear something today.

We were quoted per backing store 50k with an 9k maintenance fee per year. Hope this helps.
