Connection problem in tutorial sample

I've just started using BIRT for the first time and was working through the tutorial at <a class='bbc_url' href='http://www.eclipse.org/birt/phoenix/tutorial/basic/'>http://www.eclipse.org/birt/phoenix/tutorial/basic/</a>. In brief (and I can give more details if needed), this creates a Customer.rptdesign report using for the data source info org.eclipse.birt.report.data.oda.sampledb.Driver (Classic Models Inc. SampleDB Driver) for the driver and jdbc:classicmodels:sampledb for the database URL. I've followed the tutorial to the letter and everything, including preview, works fine for a while. Then after getting to the point where we design a table using "STATE" for the primary grouping and "CITY" for the secondary grouping (doing the correct binding, etc. per the tutorial), preview suddenly breaks. I get the "Network Access Message" error page with error code 10061. It is obviously trying to get through our gateway for some reason. Since preview was working before designing the table, I'm not sure why it would be doing this. 
 
Anybody have any ideas or suggestions of what I should be looking for? I saw nothing in the plugins log directories, and am using Eclipse Europa with BIRT plugins of 2.2.2r22...

Hi Tim, I just went through the same steps with BIRT 2.2.2 and that tutorial and I cannot make it break. Have you tried completly closing Eclipse and bringing it back up? You can also control which browser the Preview uses under Window | Preferences | Report Design | Preview. You also might try opening my copy of the same report enclosed (I stopped after the CITY grouping step).

Thanks for your help. You have given some hints that pointed in the right direction. As you are probably another software person, you'll probably not be satisfied not knowing what fixed it

, so I'll outline what I did.

I've already stopped and started Eclipse several times already, so I was reasonably confident doing only this would not help. I played with the different web browsers under the Windows menu and none of them worked. Since you had no problem with your report, I stopped Eclipse, dropped in your report, restarted, and...same problem. I took your hint about preferences and, looking around, discovered that one can specify the server to connect to there. Aha! I tried localhost. Did not work. Restart. Still didn't work. I tried the loopback ip (127.0.0.1). Restart...No dice (in each of those cases, it was still trying to get out the gateway). I tried the actual hostname. Restart and this seemed to do the trick. So, an interesting little exercise. I wonder why localhost and the loopback were not recognized and and what the default connection was (guess I could do a tcpdump and check it out..but, no need now really...)?

Anyway, thanks for your help; you got me in the right place to start looking.
