How to add a page break on a char column
sjalla
Hi I am trying to create a report and the requirement is to be able to add page break whenever the value on a column changes.
eg.
col1 col2
ab x1
ab x2
ab x3
ac y1
ac y2
....
I need to add a page break when col1 changes from "ab" to "ac".

Group on the Column that you need to have a page break. You can still show the data element in the detail level.
Set the Page Break After to "Always".
Hope this helps!

There is no String/Char option for the interval, and if the interval is not choosen, the page break is not getting added.

Hi sjalla,
To group a table, you just need to select the table, right click on the tab for the detail and add a group. Name the group what you want and group on "col1". This creates a group header and footer. Select the group footer row and go to the page break section of the property editor. In here you set the page break after to always. This will cause a page break after every group, so when it changes from ab to ac, it'll start a new page.
Hope this helps.

sjalla,
I tried the same thing. Chose "No Interval" in the Interval and changed the Page Break to "Always".
It works just fine.
Thanks..LB

Do you need "ab" on the header of the masterpage or just as a "title" for the page? Could just be at the top of the page above the other data? Let me know.
