Grouping in bar chart by more columns
Dawton
Hello,
please can anyone help me with grouping by more columns in the bar chart?
I need to group (e.g.) people by Lastname and then by Firstname so the result in the chart will be Lastname as the main scale on the X-axis and for each Lastname there will be several columns for each Firstname.
Thanks
Dawton

Hi Dawton,
Right off the bat, I don't see a way to use the chart grouping to do that. To get the names in alphabetical order based off of last name, then first name, however. You could create a computed column of row["LastName"] + ", " + row["FirstName"] and sort by that in the chart. That would effectively do what you want.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for hint - but this is not what I'd like to have. Below is link to an example what I have created in Crystal reports and I need to have the same in Birt. Well - it is not about names, I used it just an easy-to-describe example. Data in this picture are grouped by months and then by category and are displayed in the way I need. It was pretty easy to do it like this so I assume that I shold be able to do it in Birth as well.
Thanks
Yes, this can also be easily done by BIRT. Just specify an optional Y series grouping for Chart like in the screenshot.

Cooooool - it helped!
The only thing that cost some additional investigation was to change "Color By" option to "Value Series" in "Format Chart -> Series" menu...
