JSP's and BIRT

Hi, I am new to BIRT.
Basically I want to know how I pass a parameter to the BIRTViewer thru a JSP.

Here is my setup I create a new_report.rptdesign with eclipse. When I created my report I set a report parameter called StartupParam.
It is a required parameter. When I preview the report it pops up a box
saying Parameters marked with * are required
{} Enter a String value

Is their away to submit this parameter thur a jsp page.
Don't want this Parameter box to popup I just want the jsp page to pass the StartupParam.
