Tool Tip on BIRT charts

Can anyone tell me how to get a tooltip on Birt bar Charts.

where do you want the tooltip to appear? On the bar? On the legend?

First of all, you need to enable interactivity on the chart (you will also need to use an image type that supports interactivity, such as SVG). To do so, edit your chart, go to the format data tab, select the chart area node and make sure "enable chart interactivity" is checked.

For bar tooltip, go to Series-> Value (Y) Series, click the interactivity button, in event, select "mouse over" and for the action select "show tooltip". You will then be able to enter the text you want as a tooltip (you can use an expression, eg the value of a column from your dataset).
