Deployment of BIRT reports..

Hi all,

I've created some reports in BIRT 2.3. I wan't to know the ways to deploy those reports in the i-server.

1) I tried uploading the reports in 'iserver managment console and iserver express". But it throws back that, "dataset row is not defined"
How to get that dataset?

2) I also believe that there should be some tab or option in BIRT2.3 to set that server as iserver( actuate 10). Am don't see the option in the list. How to point that to actuate 10.

Can you attach a screenshot of your error?

To upload a BIRT Report to the iServer Express from within the Actuate BIRT designer select Window --> Show View --> Other... The select Report Design and click Servers. This will open the iServer Servers Profile tab. You will need to populate the field similar to the following:

Profile name: My Local iServer Express
iServer: localhost
Port: 8000
Volume: yourVolumeName (likely the DNS name of the machine)
User name: Administrator
Password: (blank is the default)
iPortal Server: localhost
iPortal Port: 8900
Context Path: /iportal

Hi,

I tried the same thing..

Actuate BIRT designer select Window --> Show View --> Other... Report Design..
and then i don't see the " Servers" option... :-( why is that missing?
I use BIRT 2.3 version and actuate 10.

And in iserver managment console, am able to upload reports , but not able to view some.. it's not able to find the "datasource"..

Only the Actuate BIRT report designers have the plug-in to publish BIRT reports to the iServer Express. You can download a copy of the Actuate 10 BIRT designer from <a class='bbc_url' href='http://www.birt-exchange.com/wiki/Actuate_10/'>Actuate 10 - BIRT Wiki - BIRT Exchange</a>. 
 
-Does the report in question have any problems listed in the Problems view of the designer? 
 
-What exact version of BIRT are you using? 
 
-Can you post the problem report?

Whats the difference between "Actuate 10 BIRT designer" and the BIRT Designer which i downloaded from the below link.

I downloaded the same designer which you had given..

Hi rob,
It's not available, because am using trial version?? Should i get the licensed version to avail this feature?
Or should i have to configure any settings to deploy?

Am using Actuate 10 Milestone 10 version..

Hi Suma, 
It should be there. I have the same version as you, and if I click on Window --> Show View --> Other... the show view dialog opens. I can then expand the report design section and select Servers. See attached image. 
 
By default, the server view open in the bottom section of Eclipse by the Property Editor view and the Problem view. See attached image. 
 
Have you reviewed the following DevShare post? It gives an overview of publishing reports to the iServer Express.

I really wonder why thats not available.. I had a look at that post earlier.. Still... Am quite confused, why that's not visible in my designer.. 
I don't know whether am missing some procedures, which i should do before this... 
 
Can you do me a favour? Kindly send me the zip file of your designer and iserver.. I'll try with that.. Then i think, i can locate the issue..

Hi rob..

Now, i made a try with management console and the error i get is:

"Cannot open connection for the driver: org.eclipse.birt.report.data.odbc.jdbc:
Missing properties in connection: Connection.open(properties)

I have placed the sqljdbc jar file int the below directory..

C:Program FilesActuate10JarBIRTplatformpluginsorg.eclipse.birt.report.data.oda.jdbc_2.3.1.v20080818-1200drivers

Hi rob,

In both eclipse BIRT and Actuate BIRT i could not see the option, "servers" under "Report Design"..

Through imanagement console:

Am not able to run the uploaded files to iserver, through eclipse BIRT.
Am able to run the uploaded files using Actuate BIRT designer..

where exactly is the issue? In eclipse BIRT, i couldn't find the problem view also..

Eclipse BIRT is open source, isn't it?
Is Actuate BIRT a free ware ( open source) ?

Pls do send me the zip files..

Did you download the Actuate BIRT Report Designer, or the Actuate BIRT Report Designer Professional? Only the pro version has the servers plugin.

What are the connection settings in the design file you are using? Can you upload the design here?
