Birt Deployment

i have a question on the Birt project deployment,

The question is regarding the birt project deployment on our unix test box, actually we followed the usual ways of deploying the ear file,

but what we observed was when we deployed the ear into the tmp directory,

we see that two empty folders scriptlib and report folders got automatically created under the root folder ,when initially the birt ear was deployed which was under tmp directory, when we tried to run the app , it didn't give us the out put,

but when we placed the files that were there in the scriptlib and report folder in birt ear under tmp directory, to these automatically created scriptlib and report folder,then it worked,

so my question was why did these folders got created automatically when we first deployed the birt ear on the test box,
if thats the behaviour ,then is there any way that we can specify those folders tobe created in the tmp directory itself ,rather than outside of it.
