Help Wanted - finer points of formatting

We're struggling with some of the finer points of formatting reports including tables & graphs. Some questions / issues are:
* if you say an object is 100% width - 100% of what??
* you can control the width of the page, grid, table & columns - if they conflict who wins?
* how to force legends to wrap
* how to force the width of legend text and avoid truncating
* etc.....

Would someone be willing to spend some time over the phone helping us to understand some of these issues? Also, we have the field guide and refer to help & other online docs but cannot find something that explains in detail every option related to formatting - and other things for that matter - does anyone know of such a resource?
