Performance issue in JOIN Dataset

I am building a JOINT dataset - one dataset from a .csv file and one dataset from a DB2 database. The (DB2 ) dataset is a simple query with a TRIM function and the .csv file is also a simple query. But the performance of the JOIN seem to be terrible. It is taking more than 30 min to build the query and the resultset. I am experiencing more issues when the dataset need to read 1000s of records.
Can anyone please know of similar experiences and suggest alternatives?
