PPT emitter loses links

I am using BIRT 2.2.1.1 (both the RCP Designer and the web viewer). 
 
I have a simple test rptdesign file that has a single label on it that is a link to Google. When I render this test file in HTML or in PDF, the link appears. However, when I render this test file in PPT, the text appears, but the link is missing. 
 
I have also looked at the MIME+VML that is produces by the PPT emitter in Notepad, and I don't see a <a href=...>, any link/anchor tags, or any reference to <a class='bbc_url' href='http://www.google.com'>Google</a>, so I believe that the PPT emitter is completely ignoring/removing my link. 
 
Has anyone else encountered this issue? If so, is there a workaround? Is this any different in BIRT 2.3?

It looks as if there is a <a class='bbc_url' href='https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=252447'>bug report</a> made for this issue already and it says that the issue will be fixed in release 2.5. First thing that comes to mind as a workaround would be using a text element to create your own 'href=' hyperlink rather than the hyperlink property in BIRT. Let me know if this works or not or if you have any other questions and I'll try to help.
