calling a report from a java application

hi all
Being new to BIRT, i have just completed designing a report.now i need to make that report available for a java application (whether its calling thru a servlet or anything else).
what is it that i need to do with the reportengine for all these.

You can use the default Web Viewer (J2EE Component)<br />

There is also a ReportRunner example in the Report engine download that is already built and calls a report using a bat or shell script.<br />
